Citizen scientists — all of us.

We live between sea and forest — every shore, marsh, and tree line here is alive with stories waiting to be told.

LaHave Coastal invites you to become a citizen scientist by observing, recording, and sharing what you see using iNaturalist. Your photos of birds, insects, fungi, coastal creatures, and plants — help us build a living map of our region.

As a volunteer you can:

  • walk and monitor our trails taking photos of what you observe

  • plant native trees and watch new forest layers emerge

  • help in ocean mapping — recording marine life, tide pools, seaweed, and coastal change

  • help with tracking weather and birds using field sensors

Your observations, joined with these hands-on efforts, help us track migrating species, spot pollution, monitor forest recovery, and measure light pollution. We are restoring native hardwoods, protecting wetlands, connecting land and sea — and we need your curiosity and care to make it stronger.

Everyone — from seasoned naturalists to beginners — is welcome to join our coastal community. Together, we grow knowledge, deepen connection, and care for this place we all love.

iNaturalist: plant & animal identification for everyone
