Giving to LaHave Coastal

LaHave Coastal is a nonprofit charity registered with the CRA, so it can provide a receipt for your donation, which you can use to reduce your taxes. All donations are applied to LaHave Coastal’s charitable purposes, which are all for the benefit of the public:

1. To protect the environment for the benefit of the public by conserving or restoring ecosystems and

   biodiversity on a long-term basis; and

2. To advance education by providing programs on best practices for environmental stewardship, habitat

   restoration, and biodiversity planning.

To donate money, you can:

• Use your credit or debit card to sponsor tree planting.

• Send an e-transfer to accounting@lahavecoastal.ca

• Mail a cheque to LaHave Coastal Conservation Association, 711 Mount Pleasant Road, LaHave, NS B0R 1C0.

Donating Land

You can permanently protect your land and receive a tax receipt for its appraised value.

The shores and forests throughout LaHave have a storied history. As the weather and environment change, it’s up to us to band together and protect this special place for generations to come.

Receipts for US taxpayers

US taxpayers can make a donation to LaHave Coastal through our partner American Friends of Canadian Conservation (AFCC) and receive tax benefits in the United States.

• Donate online using your credit card at AFCC’s secure site.

• Mail a cheque in US funds along with a Grant Recommendation Form. The language in the Grant Recommendation is necessary for your gift to be tax deductible in the US.

• You can donate stocks, bonds, or mutual fund shares to avoid capital gains tax and receive a donation receipt for their full value. To do this, you can create a Donor Advised Fund (DAF) and then direct your DAF to make grants to AFCC. You can also contribute securities directly to AFCC; contact AFCC info@conservecanada.org for instructions.

• You can also donate land to LaHave Coastal through American Friends and receive a receipt deductible against your US source income. Please contact support@lahavecoastal.ca for guidance.
